Being Human

So I started watching the US version of Being Human.  I say 'US Version' since it started as a BBC series.  I didn't know this until I called my sister after my first episode and asked her if she'd seen it.

"I got the British one from Netflix, and liked that one".

Well, needless to say, I kept watching the US version, and I really liked it.

For those that aren't in the know, it's a show about a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost all living.. OK.. residing.. in the same house.  They want to live as much of a human life as they can, and try not to be the monsters that they are forced to live life as.  It's a cute show.  Sometimes you forget that Aidan, the vampire, is hundreds of years old and has been slaughtering people for food ever since his creation.  He wants to put that all behind him now, and regain some humanity.  The werewolf, Josh.

Think of that emo kid down the street in middle-class america.  Dresses all in black, thinks the world is against him, hates life, wants to die, but is doing it all for the attention.

Now imagine a guy who actually does have a shitty life.  He has every reason in the world to want to call it quits.  He does play the woe-is-me card a bit, but I think thats acceptable, being that he really is trying to live life as a 'normal'.

Then there's Sally.  The ghost.  She resides in the house that Josh and Aidan rent together.  She is the remains of a former life with her young fiancée and doesn't know what to do with herself now that she cannot interact with anyone of the non-supernatural variety.  She's got attitude, and when she learns how to shake the house, watch out!

Overall, the show is very enjoyable for me.  It is not the run-of-the-mill supernatural crossover thats come out in the recent years.  It is a bit of a new concept... even if it was Britain's new concept.  :D
